Error code: 0×8007000B; can’t install windows updates :(

A while back (few weeks ago) one of the users on my computer was infected with tracking cookies and a virus. The virus (there were periods of time between each symptom) changed both of our backgrounds to a fake AV alert, changed the screensaver to something called “bluescreen” (which made the computer unusable if it ever came up) and blocked internet connection.
