If Automatic Updates keeps being offering SP3 for installation, all previous attempts to install have failed. How to troubleshoot an unsuccessful installation of WinXP SP3 [link] Check your WindowsUpdate.log (\WindowsUpdate.log) for errors associated with the download/install.
