Vista crash after sp1 – can’t recover, can’t repair, can’t reinsta

I have VISTA Home Premium OEM version (32bit), and it has been fine for over a year, with automatic updates installing without any problems. Yesterday Vista tried to install SP1 all by itself, and after the second reboot, it has killed Vista. It will start loading, then get halfway through the green
