Vista sp1 download nightmare

I have been trying to get sp1 installed on my vista home premium for some time now. It never showed up in my windows update so I had to download the standalone (500mgs) and it downloaded fine but when I run the app it just does nothing. I have one important update on my windows update(silverlight)but it will not update because it is missing a needed msi
