Vista will not start!

I have looked through the threads and although there are some threads that are close to the problem I’m having my problem is a bit different. The problem I’m having is that after an Microsoft update Vista on the restart went to the F8 page and kind of stays there. Hit safe mode and the computer simply cycles around to the F8 page again. I can’t get the computer to go any
