What do you think of Vista?
I have mixed feelings about Vista, I have 2 laptops at home running Ultimate and i have to say i’m quite pleased with the results. One was bought with Vista installed and the other was an XP machine that i reformatted and installed Vista on. The pre-installed machine worked as described straight from the box, never had a problem at all (touch wood). The upgraded machine had a few problems at first but that turned out to be a RAM issue, a simple RAM ugrade fixed that. So, the above shows i quite like vista…………BUT….. I have my work laptop a HP-Compaq 6510b (Dual core 2gb RAM) running Vista Business and this does have a few problems, random slowdowns, issues with accessing network resources, most of these problems have now been addressed, but it took some time.
Now i have one strange problem, my automatic updates from microsoft keep failing with “the hotfix installer has stopped working” so i am currently unable to update my machine. I have overall been quite impressed with Vista, but i have to aggree with most of the comments here about it not being ready for the workplace. Unfortunately we run our business on Microsoft Dynamics NAV and the version (customised) our parent company is rolling out from the end of this year only runs on vista. Which means that we will be replacing all of the computers on our network with Vista and Server 2008. I can see that i will be spending my whole life in the server room and in the offices for a few months after we switch. But then i guess thats what i get paid for: MorganJ — Windows — Reply
