WSUS Configuration

Posted on Wednesday, 6 August 2008No Comment

Hi,
Create a GPO called WSUS_[Group Name] (ie WSUS_FinanceUnit)
Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components/Windows Update

These are the settings I use:

Policy
Configure Automatic Updates
Configure automatic updating: 4 – Auto download and schedule the install
The following settings are only required and applicable if 4 is selected.
Scheduled install day: 0 – Every day
Scheduled install time: 07:00

Policy
Specify intranet Microsoft update service location
Set the intranet update service for detecting updates: http:/ / wsus
Set the intranet statistics server: http:/ / wsus (ie: http:/ / IntranetUpd01 )

Select Clients from Scope (remember to Tick ‘Computers’ in Object Types)

Hope this helps
Cheers
Paul
