Thanks DL for replying! The update is not failed. Windows Update writes that the update is successfull every time. I did not install a second Trial.

When you pull up MU/WU in a brower, that connection is *always* to Microsoft.com. WSUS does not provide a web-based client-side UI.

When you pull up MU/WU in a brower, that connection is *always* to Microsoft.com. WSUS does not provide a web-based client-side UI. It’s strictly a corporate-level implementation of “Automatic Updates”, albeit with a larger catalog of products.

Step 3 does not happen for me at all. The only links I get on the left hand side are FAQ and help

That’s because MS does not consider it a critical update (go figure) and Root Certificates updates are not offered by AU (go figure). An update’s released every 2-3 months: To get it, you’ll have to run Windows Update manually, do a CUSTOM scan, and then click on the Optional Software updates category to make it available for download.
