I have a 2008 Domain. When attempting to delete folders which had shares on them I am getting the error: “The action cant be completed because the folder is open in another process” I have seen many reference to this and there is a Microsoft article about it (KB949857)
When I try to delete a folder in the my music folder of my documents, I get the error: “The action can’t be completed because the folder is open in another program. Close the folder & try again.” I have tried deleting the folder in safe mode. I have installed the hotfix from KB 949857
So I ran windows update, and after the updates had installed the folder I was trying to access was just gone! Really weird, but actually OK by me. I just recreated the folder, and now the application that uses it can access it fine. Thanks for all your help guys.
I’ve submitted a request for the hotfix. Got a response email and I’ve also downloaded the patch. I’ll have to wait till tomorrow to try the patch. I’ll post the result …
