An XP SP3 computer is logging the following errors. I believe this is because we are using the new features available in 2008 GPOs to enforce some service settings.

The first thing is to verify you’ve not inadvertently enabled the policy “Remote access to use all Windows Update features” on these machines — which will also hide the notification icon. Second, depends on how you are connecting to these machines

The only thing I see here that may be problematic, and certainly would account for them not seeing updates from WSUS (but not permissions errors attempting to install them): The machine has no target group assignment. If you’re using client-side (policy-based) group assignments, ensure that the policy is correctly
