Removing the previous version .Net worked for us as well. We tried to repair it, and tried the MSI patch, nothing was working. Downloaded the Installer Clean Up Utility and ran that then removed .Net 2.0 and restarted

Hi guys I have XP Pro installed on my other HDD and XP Home on my main one. I unable to the Pro to update my usb thus I couldnt used my modem on it. The Home is updated and I am able to connect to the internet.

I logged on my Asus laptop this morning and the windows updater came up saying there was a Vista service pack 2 available. it downloaded and then restarted my computer. when it turned back in and was installing, it stopped part way through and gave me this message.

If I restore to factory condition, doesn’t that mean that I will have to re-install all my software and download all the windows updates again and what about Ms Word, which also has problems of it’s own, ‘abnormal program termination’? Mike

i was having a very similar problem…i followed all the steps suggested up through downloading and installing the windows update agent…and it worked like a charm…i’ve never done this kind of detailed work before but it really was not that difficult with the step by steps provided. i just wanted to write and say ‘thank you very much’.
