While Windows Update may have located the installers for the updates on the external drive, there’s no way the updates were “installed” on that drive. Right-click on My Computer & select Properties.

Allan, Do you know what order the SQL updates were applied in? The fix MS09-004 is part of SP3 so you should not really be offered both updates
