Re: wuauclt.exe keeps running

Note that wuauclt.exe is not itself a service, although it is launched by the Automatic Updates (or Windows Updates on Vista/W7) service under certain circumstances. It can be launched in other ways too. So, to clarify: when wuauclt.exe started unexpectedly, had the WU/AU service also started?
